Position:

Position: Child & Family Services/Prevention Worker (Possible Regional)
One (1) Full-Time, Permanent Position

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Unit Supervisor, the CFS/Prevention Worker will perform case management by assessing, placing, and provide support and follow-up children services (CS) and their parents. They will work from a prevention focused strengths-based approach, utilizing a continuum of resources, develop case plans, coordinates the resources and supports, and arrange connections to culturally appropriate community resources.

While working collaboratively with other agency departments as well as community resources to deliver services, the incumbent follows applicable legislation, program standards, regulations, and directives. Always working toward the goal of reunifying families, a CFS/Prevention Worker provides quality, caring, and culturally appropriate service. CFS/Prevention Worker is to exercise good judgement, consult with applicable supports, and maintains confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • BSW Degree with experience in child welfare
  • Combination of experience in a related field along with the completion of 3 years in the BSW program may be considered
  • Knowledge of CFS legislation, issues and standards
  • Knowledge of Child & Family Services Information System (CFSIS)
  • Excellent assessment, interviewing, and counselling skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a team setting
  • Sensitivity to and an understanding of First Nations culture and values
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language would be considered an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Background Checks must meet Agency standards
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle

Salary:

Salary will commensurate with education and experience.
